Discussion Streaming Meeting Discussion

by Mary Ghikas on Wed, Feb 16, 2011 at 11:40 am

At the Division Leadership meeting in San Diego, a discussion arose about issues related to streaming meetings (of boards, of committees).  I was asked to post a "discussion starter" to this list.  It is attached.  Please feel free to share -- and discuss.  Thank you.  Let me know where you want changes, additions or have more questions.  Thanks to LITA and to the ALA Executive Office for their help in pulling this together.  mg

Discussion Task Force Reports to ALA Council and/or ALA Executive Board

by Mary Ghikas on Tue, Jun 21, 2011 at 04:39 pm

I am attaching a number of Task Force report that will be considered by either/both the ALA Council or/and ALA Executive Board in New Orleans.  FYI.

The Young Professionals Task Force was appointed by Camila Alire.  The Equitable Access to Electronic Content TF was created by the ALA Council and appointed by Roberta Stevens.  The other three task forces were appointed by ALA president Roberta Stevens.

ALA Division Leadership is a twice-yearly (Midwinter Meeting and Annual Conference) gathering of the presidents, presidents-elect and immediate past presidents of the eleven ALA Divisions and of ALA, along with their executive directors.  Other invited participants include the division councilors and members of ALA committees who are appointed (collectively) by the division presidents -- including division representatives to the ALA Conference Committee, the ALA Scholarships and Study Grants Committee, and the Association of American Publishers - ALA Joint Committee, as well as a division-recommended member of the ALA Budget Analysis and Review Committee. Staff liaison and support is provided by the ALA Member Programs and Services Department.

The Division Leadership meeting provides a collaborative forum for the discussion of issues of common concern to the eleven divisions and a channel for high-level communication between the leadership of ALA and the Divisions.
