SRRT (Social Responsibilities Round Table)

last person joined: 6 days ago

The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    To all SRRT members:

Are you looking for an exciting new way to become involved in SRRT? Do you enjoy staying informed about the latest publications of books and media related to SRRT causes? Are you organized, detail-oriented, and good at managing and encouraging others?

If you answered positively to any of these questions, you may be just who we are looking for as our next Book Reviews Editor for SRRT Newsletter!

Jane Ingold is stepping down after eight years of working with the SRRT Newsletter, the last five of which she has spent as book reviews editor. We are all deeply grateful for her dedication and diligence in this position and wish her well as she moves on to new challenges. She hopes to pass the torch to someone, perhaps a new librarian or a tenure-track librarian, desirous of an opportunity to serve the SRRT community and become more involved with our ongoing work to promote social justice issues among librarians.

If you feel this is you, please view the job posting in the current issue of the SRRT Newsletter (http://libr.org/srrt/news/srrt168.html#4) and contact me.

    Thank you,
    Myka Kennedy Stephens
    SRRT Newsletter Editor
