A message from the Spectrum Leadership Institute Planning Committee to the GLBT-RT:
Subject: GLBTRT @ Spectrum Institute
Wed, Apr 15, 2009 at 10:19 AM
Hello
The Planning Committee of the 2009 Spectrum Leadership Institute invites GLBTRT to participate in the Professional Options Fair for the 2008 Spectrum Scholars during their Chicago Leadership Institute, July 8-10, 2009. The Professional Options Fair will take place on Thursday, July 9th from 7:00 PM-9:30 PM at an ALA Conference hotel.
The Spectrum Scholarship Program is ALA's national diversity and recruitment effort designed to address the specific issue of under-representation of critically needed ethnic librarians within the profession. All Spectrum Scholars attend a leadership institute that precedes the ALA Annual Conference, of which the Professional Options Fair is a critical component. The Professional Options Fair brings together representatives from a wide range of library environments and organizations. This event allows Spectrum Scholars the opportunity to network and to learn more about librarianship. Furthermore, it provides representatives with an excellent opportunity to recruit this diverse group of new library leaders to their specialties and organizations.
Please show your support for the Spectrum Scholarship Program by participating in this important event. We ask that you share this message with your membership. We would welcome the participation of GLBTRT leaders and members who will be in Chicago for the American Library Association Annual Conference.
Sincerely,
2009 Spectrum Leadership Institute Planning Committee
