Work accomplished since last scheduled meeting.*: As a virtual committee, we meet twice monthly using ALA Connect chat. Since the last reporting period, we've continued to post to the ALSC blog; worked with the Digital Content Task Force to provide feedback on a survey they created for the ALSC membership; continued to come up with topics and questions for ALSC's monthly Twitter chats; and came up with questions and moderated the discussion for the ALSC community forums on new media that happened in August.
Summarize Committee discussion, any decisions reached, and follow-up action needed, including suggestions for future programs or publications based on the committee’s work.*: Our committee meetings are publicly available in ALA Connect. Our discussions are focused on the projects we work on, which are discussed in other questions in this report.
How have the committee/task force’s activities since the last meeting supported and furthered ALSC’s Strategic Plan? http://www.ala.org/alsc/aboutalsc/stratplan*: Our committee work supports the education goal area of ALSC's strategic plan. Our work on the Twitter chats and our blog posts enhance professional development (objective 1). Our work on the ALSC community forums focused on new and emerging technologies (objective 2).
What are your objectives, timetable, and assignments for work to do between now and the next committee/task force meeting?*: We will continue to work on topics and questions for the Twitter chats on a monthly basis. We are creating a survey about the Twitter chats to see what we could be doing better, to go out this fall. We have a "book club" planned to start in October in the Children and Technology Interest Group on ALA Connect, discussing Lisa Guernsey's book about how screen time affects children from birth to age five. We will continue to post to the ALSC blog monthly and write for Children and Libraries quarterly.
When you communicate electronically, how are you preserving the work of the committee for the next committee?*: Email, Regularly scheduled ALA Connect discussions/chats
What type of research would relate and assist the work of your committee/task force and ultimately the implementation of the ALSC strategic plan?*: We are always looking for research about the effects of screen time for young children. This would inform our work to educate the membership about new technologies.

Has the committee recently reviewed the function statement to ensure it meets the responsibilities of the priority group area and facilitates the implementation of the ALSC Strategic Plan? Note: Recommendations should be submitted to Organizations & Bylaws. *: Yes
