The LITA 50th Anniversary Task Force is charged with planning for and coordinating with appropriate stakeholders and committees in the implementation of a yearlong celebration in 2016 in honor of LITA’s 50th year in existence.  The task force should:

  • Plan for virtual as well as in-person events at ALA Annual, Midwinter, and the LITA Forum;
  • Consider how to communicate celebration to other divisions and groups external to ALA;
  • Determine what tangibles or swag is appropriate;
  • Decide how to rebrand LITA, if necessary;
  • Determine how to capture the spirit of LITA and honor or show appreciation of its members; and
  • Work closely with the Web Coordinating Committee, Communications Committee, and the Membership Development Committee.

Once approved, this Task Force will need to have a potential new brand, marketing campaign, swag, and events completely organized, planned, and ordered prior to ALA Midwinter in January 2016.

The budget for the task force will come from the interest from our endowments, which is approximately $6,000.
