International Information Literacy Panel in a Virtual World
An International Information Literacy Panel was held in the virtual world of Second Life on Sunday, Oct. 21. Panelists were from the UK, Poland, Chile, Greece, and the USA. Discussion on the challenges we face as librarians (on a global scale) validated the changing nomenclature, issues of digital citizenship, and the impact of the exponential growth of technology on our libraries and our roles as librarians and information literacy specialists.

The panel was recorded on livestream at http://livestre.am/4bIElThis panel was jointly sponsored by the ACRL Virtual World Interest Group and the Center for Information Literacy Research which is based in the UK.At the Nov. 18th meeting of the ACRL VWIG, a research study on "Factors Contributing to the Adoption of Virtual Worlds by Librarians" will be presented at 12 noon Pacific Time. This topic will be shared at the Community Virtual Library in Second Life.
