The mission of the International Relations Round Table is to promote interest in library issues and librarianship worldwide; to help coordinate international activities within ALA, serving as a liaison between the International Relations Committee and those members of the Association interested in international relations; to develop programs and activities which further the international objectives of ALA; and to provide hospitality and information to visitors from abroad.

    You are invited to attend this program at the ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim onSaturday, June 23, 4:00pm - 5:30pm

    Monika Schroeder, author of My Brother’s Shadow (FSG, 2011)

    Ruta Sepetys, author of Between Shades of Gray (Philomel, 2011)

    Trent Reedy, author of Words into Dust (Arthur Levine/Scholastic, 2011)

    The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY) and the Association of Library Services to Children (ALSC) are pleased to present a panel of three outstanding authors whose books are set during three different wars—World War I, World War II, and the war in Afghanistan. The panel members will relate the “stories behind the stories” of their books along with difficulties encountered in writing about this topic for young people. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions of panel participants. Free bookmarks listing 2012 USBBY Outstanding International Books will be available.
