Discussion Seeking nominations for Madison & Cooke Awards

by Shari Laster on Sat, Dec 23, 2017 at 02:34 pm

Posting on behalf of the ALA Washington Office:

Posting on behalf of the ALA Washington Office:

The Washington Office is inviting nominations for its James Madison Award and Eileen Cooke State & Local Madison Award. The awards recognize an individual or group who has championed, protected, or promoted public access to government information and the public’s right to know, at the national and state or local levels, respectively.

Nominations for the awards should be submitted by January 19, 2018.

Please note that in addition to library folks, library organizations, and other projects, these awards also recognize anyone who has worked directly with libraries to improve public access – for instance, a state legislator or mayor who has worked to improve a state or local depository library program. So you are invited to think creatively about whose work has made an impact and deserves recognition.

For more information or if you have questions, please contact Gavin Baker at the Washington Office.
