  • 1.  GODORT & Title 44

    Posted Aug 09, 2017 03:47 PM

At the request of the Director of the Government Publishing Office, the Depository Library Council has asked for community feedback for recommended changes to the FDLP's statutory authority. The deadline for responding is August 31st, and all GODORT members are encouraged to participate in this process by submitting comments to DLC, joining conversations on govdoc-l and other venues, and working with libraries & consortia on compiling and submitting information in response to this request.

Separately, ALA's Washington Office is preparing a position statement for consideration by the ALA Committee on Legislation. This position statement may extend beyond Chapter 19 to include other parts of Title 44. COL has asked GODORT to provide input to WO and COL on this position statement, with a very short timeline: our input needs to be approved by GODORT Steering and forwarded no later than August 31st.

As part of Steering's information gathering, we will host a community forum on Friday, August 25th, 10am PDT/11am MDT/noon CDT/1pm EDT.

    • We'll meet in the general GODORT room on Adobe Connect: http://ala.adobeconnect.com/godort/

    • If you prefer to use the telephone instead of a computer microphone for the meeting, the call in number is: (844) 801-7777 access code: 738241

General comments for Steering's consideration on Title 44 revision are also welcome, posted to this discussion form or sent to Shari Laster, GODORT Chair, at slaster@ucsb.edu
