PostALA-APA Change
by Mary Ghikas on Fri, 06/10/2011 - 2:53pmEffective July 1, 2011, Jenifer Grady, Director, ALA-APA, will be leaving ALA to move to Nashville (TN). Jenifer began her directorship of the ALA-APA (ALA-Allied Professional Association) on December 22, 2003, taking on the significant challenge of guiding a start-up organization, with no additional staff. During her time as director, she has helped refine the focus of the APA and create a sustainable organization. She has supervised the implementation of the Certified Public Library Administrator certification and worked with ALA members and colleagues to develop a
PostStreaming Meetings Discussion
by Mary Ghikas on Wed, 02/16/2011 - 2:42pmAt the Division Leadership meeting in San Diego, a discussion arose about issues related to streaming meetings (of boards, of committees). by Mary Ghikas on Mon, 06/21/2010 - 6:17pmTHe 2010 Annual Conference version of What's Happening is attached (pdf), with thanks to lots of help from ALA colleagues. It is, generally speaking, a personal guide -- and this year I curated it with new attendees and new and/or young members in mind. As always, we'll see what the feedback is... and where this goes in the future. mg
PostE-Participation -- FAQ
by Mary Ghikas on Thu, 06/17/2010 - 11:08amThere continue to be a lot of questions from committee chairs, members and potential members about "e-participation." Based on those questions, an FAQ is attached. Thanks to Larry Romans for the helpful nudge -- actually Larry kindly thought I'd done it already. The attached document has gone to ALA unit managers. I will also post this to the Division Leadership group in ALA Connect.
Let me know any feedback you have or that you receive so we can keep getting closer to clarity on some complicated changes.
