The following message is sent on behalf of the 2022-2023, Council Orientation Committee
Dear Councilors,
Welcome to the newly seated councilors and welcome back to those who are returning. On behalf of the Council Orientation Committee, thank you for being willing to serve the American Library Association on Council. The ALA membership appreciates the important work you are doing for the association and the profession.
For those of you who are serving your first term on Council, we know that it can be a little overwhelming even for those who have served before. Instead of presenting a lot of information at one time just before you have your first Council meeting, we are planning a series of virtual events (Tune in Tuesdays) throughout the year addressing the different aspects of Council. Our first Tune in Tuesday will be held Tuesday, August 23 at 2:00pm (CT). During this town hall style of event, you will hear from current ALA President, Lessa Pelayo-Lozada; ALA Parliamentarian, Adrian Stratton and the ALA Governance Office staff. You will have an opportunity to ask questions after their presentations. While this virtual event is open to all, it will be especially useful to first time councilors as preparation for the online virtual Council session.
Register in advance for this meeting: https://ala-events.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMpdu6spjwjGNBSCMEJ-M2sqLeE5GkXr078
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
