Hello all,
This year the Library of Congress Preservation Directorate initiated market research on aftermarket, or commercial, library binding, and shared on this list a preliminary set of market research questions to request community feedback on the proposed topics. The goal of this activity was to better understand the availability of binding materials and services, costs and other market factors that may affect these services, and the role of standards in this area of library services. Individuals who expressed interest in participating in the sessions were provided with the scheduling information for two virtual meetings for discussion of those topics, which were held on August 23 and 25. Along with Library of Congress preservation staff, participants included representatives from libraries at academic institutions, government agencies, and commercial binding vendors. A summary of those sessions was recently shared with the participants at the session. If you are interested in learning more about this topic please see our recent blog post, or if you would like to receive the summary because you could not attend one of the sessions, please email your request to preserve@loc.gov .
