I have encouraged  ALA to take the lead in organizing a national effort with other professional associations to build financial, materials, technology and programmatic support and refreshment for Ukrainian libraries, archives and their workers. I know that not everyone agrees with this. I would be interested in your thoughts.

    Hi Jim,
I am in agreement that we, as an Association, should support Ukrainian libraries/library staff in any way possible. I would want Ukrainian library workers (via the Ukrainian Library Association?) to share with us what will be most helpful, and would hope that IFLA would be involved in any collaborative efforts. In your role as chair of the IRC, what do you see as IRC and IRRT's roles in  an ALA-led coalition?

I am also thinking about Afghanistan, South Sudan, and so many other places around the globe that are facing significant challenges due to conflict...In southeastern Michigan, we are still welcoming Afghan refugees and gearing up to help resettle families from Ukraine next.

Thanks for raising this issue, and helping us to think about ambitious action.
