Job posting: Community College Engagement Librarian, University of the District of Columbia

  • 1.  Job posting: Community College Engagement Librarian, University of the District of Columbia

    Posted Feb 16, 2022 07:54 AM

The University of the District of Columbia is currently seeking candidates for the position of Community College Engagement Librarian. The librarian will coordinate functions of library services and serve as the primary librarian at the University of the District of Columbia's (UDC) soon-to-be relocated branch campus (UDC Community College). Duties will be conducted in close collaboration with the team of librarians at UDC's Main Campus library and will include reference, information literacy instruction, assessment, and outreach. This is a twelve (12)-month position. Some evening and weekend work is required. We strongly encourage candidates who demonstrate a high degree of professional and pedagogical commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion to apply.

The Community College Engagement Librarian will initially work primarily at the UDC Main Campus until that time when the library at the Community College at the Bertie Backus location is open. At that time, the Community College Reference Librarian will primarily work at the branch campus.

The only public institution of higher education in the nation's capital, the University of the District of Columbia is a land grant institution of higher learning dedicated to providing quality, career focused undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare its highly diverse students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to launch, enhance, or change careers. The university is a member of the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC), which manages the shared integrated library catalog, the high-density off-site shared collections facility, the consortium and interlibrary loan systems, and other initiatives. Librarians are expected to serve on appropriate WRLC committees and other task forces, as assigned.

Electronic submission of application materials is required. For additional information about this position and to apply, please visit: https://udc.applicantstack.com/x/detail/a2hbyxh2pwx1/aahj

Please note that as this is a tenure-track faculty position, the posting includes standard language from the university regarding terminal degrees and teaching. However, this librarian position does not primarily involve classroom teaching so those without teaching experience should not hesitate to apply. The MLS/MLIS is the appropriate terminal degree for librarians.
