Assistant Professor / First Year Experience and Student Success Librarian
The Emporia State University Libraries and Archives (ULA), Emporia. KS invites applications for a First Year Experience and Student Success Librarian. We seek a creative, innovative, engaged, and student-centered librarian with a commitment to student learning and academic success. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position at the initial rank of Assistant Professor.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have earned a Master of Library Science from a graduate program accredited by the American Library Association, or an equivalent accreditation outside the U.S., by the time of employment. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience or familiarity in communications with diverse groups of students and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
● Coordination, planning, and assessment of the library's embedded information literacy instruction program in sections of English Composition I and Composition II
● Primary liaison between the Libraries and Archives and campus programs/initiatives that facilitate instruction and support for first-year undergraduate students
● Outreach to lower-division undergraduate students for the promotion of library services and resources
● Development and maintenance of various instructional and promotional materials for first-year students, including tutorials, social media, library programming, and related learning objects
● In rotation with other ULA faculty, teach credit-bearing information literacy courses, including UL100 (Research Skills, Information and Technology), a 3-credit-hour undergraduate general education course
● Liaison to faculty in assigned academic departments, including embedded information literacy instruction and collection development
● Participation in providing reference services to students, faculty, staff, and community patrons
● Engagement in scholarly/creative/professional activities that advance knowledge, in line with tenure-track requirements
The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $48,000, depending on experience.
