The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Our next Action Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday September 23 at 3:00 PM Atlantic / 2:00 PM Eastern / 1:00 PM Central / 12:00 PM Mountain / 11:00 AM Pacific. We hope you can join us!

    *** REMINDER: Due to consistent meeting time constraints, and in the interest of keeping Action Council meetings action-oriented, all task forces, committees, and liaisons are requested to please submit a written report to the coordinator for inclusion with the final agenda. Time permitting, attendees will be able to ask clarifying questions about a given report, as long as the appropriate representative is present.

    If you have agenda items you'd like to be included, please send them to the coordinator no later than Friday, September 18 by 5 PM Central. Note: As is often the case, given the already-robust list of items for action and discussion, we may have limited time for less time-sensitive items.

    The TENTATIVE DRAFT agenda for the September Action Council meeting is linked here.  (Agenda is subject to change prior to the meeting, and will be finalized pending a vote at the beginning of the meeting.) 

    This meeting will be recorded, per members' request. Access to the recording will be available by request only (email the coordinator for the link & password). The recording will be deleted after 1 month. These steps are being taken to balance access with privacy due to the potentially sensitive nature of discussions.
