The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs, and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians.

The IFRT Members Community group is the central hub for discussion, library and events. It is visible to all ALA members but only IFRT members can participate in the conversation.

    Freedom to Read Foundation Seeks Nominations for 2019 Roll of Honor Recipients

    The Freedom to Read Foundation (FTRF) seeks nominations for its Roll of Honor. This award was established in 1987 to recognize and honor individuals who have contributed substantially to FTRF through adherence to its principles and/or substantial monetary support. 
     
    The award will be presented at the Opening Ceremony of the 2019 ALA Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. 
     
    More information on how to nominate as well as a list of past Roll of Honor winners can be found at ftrf.org/honor. Deadline for submissions has been extended to 4/12/19.
     
    Awardees have ranged from famous authors and musicians such as Judy Blume and Frank Zappa to librarians who championed intellectual freedom throughout their careers such as Gordon Conable.
