The ALA Election is now open. Polls opened this morning at 9 a.m. Central Time on Monday, March 14, 2022. ALA members who renewed their membership by January 31, 2022 will be able to cast a digital ballot to vote for association-wide leadership that will shape the future and direction of the association. The ALA annual election will close on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
ALA Presidential & Treasurer Candidates
ALA 2023–24 presidential election includes Emily Drabinski, interim chief librarian at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, and Kelvin Watson, executive director of Las Vegas–Clark County (Nev.) Library District. The 2022-2025 treasurer candidate is Peter Hepburn. All candidates participated in the virtual ALA Presidential and Treasurer Candidates' Forum on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Voters also will select ALA Councilors-at-Large candidates. Biographical information is available on the ALA website. If a member belongs to a Division or Roundtable, then they will also receive those specific ballots.
How Members Vote
When the polls open, ALA/SBS will notify voters by e-mail, providing them with information about how to vote online including their log-in information. E-mails will be sent over a three-day period, March 14 – 16. Members should watch for emails from: "ALA Governance Office" at noreply@directvote.net.
