DEADLINE EXTENDED: United for Libraries accepting proposals for Virtual conference through May 24

    Hello all,

This is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen your resume and build awareness of the issues of professional ethics, privacy, and intellectual freedom in public libraries. The primary audience of United for Libraries is trustees, friends, and foundations, who often do not have professional education and training in the core values of librarianship. Think about collaborating with your state's Intellectual Freedom Committee, the Intellectual Freedom Round Table Programming and Events Committee, or other groups.

Presenting a program like this and working collaboratively is also a great choice for a nomination for the Gerald Hodges Intellectual Freedom Chapter Relations Award. Off the top of my head, here are some ideas that may be worthwhile.

    • Making the case for Banned Books Weeks
    • The Library Bill of Rights and You
    • Ethics for Trustees

Comment on this thread if you're interested and see if others would like to join your efforts. I'm cross posting this so if I can help connect people, I will.

United for Libraries is accepting proposals for its upcoming online conference "United for Libraries Virtual: Trustees – Friends – Foundations," scheduled to be held Aug. 3-5, 2021.

    • Great Boards Don't Happen by Accident: A Proactive Approach to Building an Effective Board
    • Working with Friends and Foundations: Playing for the Same Team
