The IFRT Members Community group is the central hub for discussion, library and events. It is visible to all ALA members but only IFRT members can participate in the conversation.

    Summary:

    As a community, how can we work together to ensure equitable representation of all scholars in library collections? Our upcoming discussion with experts in this area will tackle the challenges of and solutions for improving diversity and inclusion in research materials and scholarly publications. 

    Panel members include:

    • Dr. Lady J, Director of Programming, Education & Outreach at Studio West 117 and dissertation author on transgender and LGBTQ+ performance history
    • Parneshia Jones, Director of Northwestern University Press 
    • Roberto C. Delgadillo, Student Services Librarian at University of California-Davis
    • Salman Hussain, a graduate student in history and anthropology at the University of Michigan

    From this session, participants will come away with a better understanding of:

    • Perspectives of academic authors, researchers and publishers working to provide more diverse and inclusive representation in scholarly works
    • How to work with vendors to incorporate these resources into collections and curricula
    • How to help library users discover and access scholarly works from diverse viewpoints and identities
    • Why doing so is critical for the success of students and researchers in every discipline
