Call for Papers: Special Issue of Journal of Information Ethics, Fall 2022
Justice + Ethics: Exploring Intersections of Social Justice and Information Ethics

Greetings! My name is Katie Chamberlain and I am writing as the guest editor for a special issue of the Journal of Information Ethics. Editor Robert Hauptman and I are soliciting articles on social justice and information ethics for Fall 2022.
This special issue will address how social justice intersects with information ethics and affects society, law, and policy. We welcome articles and columns discussing the ethical dimensions, implications, and challenges associated with social justice and social justice movements, such as:
- Free speech and intellectual freedom
- Neutrality and harm
- Privacy
- Online content moderation
- Amplifying BIPOC voices
- Library and information science education and pedagogy
- Library and information science role(s) in social justice movements
- Others you may suggest
JIE is a scholarly, non-peer reviewed journal that focuses on interdisciplinary ethical issues in information sciences. It is abstracted and indexed in Library Literature and Information Science Index, Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts, Scopus, and PubMed, among others. JIE does not charge article processing fees and pays a $50 (USD) honorarium to each author.
Submission Guidelines
The deadline for abstracts (circa 500 words) is August 15, 2021. The guest editor will evaluate the abstracts and notify authors of acceptance by September 1, 2021.
The deadline for full articles is January 15, 2022. Manuscripts should be 10 to 20 double-spaced pages, plus references. Please do not use footnotes or number the references. Include your abstract, brief author biography, and mailing and email addresses. The guest editor will review all full articles and contact authors with any feedback.
All submissions must be in English and follow APA (American Psychological Association) style. Accepted authors will receive hard copies of the issue and a $50.00 (USD) honorarium.

Guest Editor Biography
Katie Chamberlain, J.D., M.S.L.I.S, is adjunct faculty at the University of Illinois School of Information Sciences, where she serves on the Diversity Committee teaches graduate courses on information ethics, information policy, and libraries and society. Previously, she was a research associate at the Center for Information Policy Research at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and practiced law in Chicago.
