The mission of the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) is to (1) To provide a forum for discussion of problems, concerns, and for exchange of ideas by librarians working with government documents; (2) to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs to increase availability, use, and bibliographic control of documents; (3) to increase communication between documents librarians and other librarians; (4) to contribute to the extension and improvement of education and training of documents librarians.

    A new "community" has been created in ALA Connect for the discussion and exchange of ideas and news in the field of state, regional, and local government information. The community will serve as an online forum for friends and members of GODORT's State and Local Documents Task Force (SLDTF). This is an effort to develop a virtual space where anyone involved with state and local government publications can go to share best practices, continuing education opportunities, links to interesting articles, and keep on top of the activities of the SLDTF.
