  • To serve as a source of information on recommended ethnic collections, services, and programs.
  • To organize task forces, institutes, and workshops to carry out the functions of the Round Table as defined in the petition.
  • To develop for Annual conferences forums and symposia programs that deal with the key issues of ethnicity and librarianship.
  • To maintain a liaison with the Office of Library Outreach Services and cooperate with other ALA units, including the caucuses in joint projects for the betterment of outreach services.
  • To disseminate the work of the Round Table through a program of publications

    Hello Everyone,

    Welcome to a new year for EMIERT! Our first Executive Board meeting is in one week, and everyone is invited.

    As such, we streamlined our meeting delivery to webinar-style in alignment with other ALA round tables of this size. In addition to webinar-style meetings, Executive Board reports will now be submitted in writing prior to meetings in lieu of verbal report-sharing. This reduces strain on our secretary and improves our annual record keeping. As your ALA staff liaison, I am grateful for the opportunity to better organize my thoughts and ensure I am delivering the best, most meaningful information for this group.

    If you have items to share at the Board meeting, please add them to the agenda no later than 12pm Central on September 3.

    Happy almost fall, everyone! I hope you. had a good summer. 

    Thanks for the update and for outlining the changes to the Executive Board meetings. I had a couple of questions as I make sure I understand how the new format will work.

    . First, could you clarify what "webinar-style" means for members who are not elected Board members but have voting rights under the EMIERT bylaws? Will those members still be able to participate in discussion and vote during the meeting?

    Second, which of the the other roundtables of similar size to EMIERT are currently using webinar zooms for board meetings? If they have a process for voting members not on the board, we might be able to incorporate that.
