📚✨ **Join us for the "Right To Read-A-Thon" Banned & Challenged Books Fundraiser!** ✨📚

📅 Save the date: Saturday, June 24, 2023
    🕣 Time: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
📍 Venue: Hilton Chicago Hotel, 720 S. Michigan Avenue

In our relentless pursuit of "Literacy and Justice for All," LiteracyNation Inc. is thrilled to partner with Ethnic and Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table (EMIERT), Coretta Scott King Book Awards Round Table (CSKBART), Joint Council of Librarians of Color (JCLC), and Pennsylvania Black Librarians Caucus to bring you a remarkable event: the "Right To Read-A-Thon" Banned and Challenged Books Fundraiser!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 24, 2023, during the American Library Association's annual conference in Chicago, IL. Prepare for a seven-hour extravaganza where participants like you are invited to read for **FIVE** minutes from a banned or challenged book of your choice. 📖❤️

By participating in this event, you'll be standing up for the freedom to read and advocating for open access to information. And the best part? All proceeds from this incredible fundraiser will be donated to the LeRoy C. Merritt Humanitarian Foundation. 🤝

Established in 1970, the LeRoy C. Merritt Humanitarian Fund honors the memory of Dr. LeRoy C. Merritt, supporting the welfare, medical care, and livelihood of librarians who have faced discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, race, color, creed, religion, age, disability, or national origin. It also aids those who have defended intellectual freedom, facing threats to their employment or discharge due to their unwavering commitment to the cause of intellectual freedom, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, librarians' freedom to select diverse materials, and the defense of privacy rights. 🌍🔒

    📜 **READ-A-THON RULES** 📜

    📖 **Readers**:
✨ Each reader will read for FIVE minutes only.
✨ Individuals are kindly asked to donate $25.00 for each five-minute reading.

Those who choose not to read can still wholeheartedly support our cause by making a generous donation. Your contributions can be made in honor of your loved ones or in the names of organizations that hold a special place in your heart.

    🤝 **Sponsors**:
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors who make this event possible:

I do not see a way to sign up or donate. I do not see a link here or at https://literacynationinc.org/. Can you please provide one? Thank you for hosting this important event.

Thank you. Just FYI, and for others, I did not get the popup window when using Chrome. It did pop up when I switched to MS Edge.

I can't make it to ALA this year, but I donated a little.

Cheers from Florida, which, along with Texas, is the spear's edge of this horrible trend. Our teachers, professors, and librarians need tons of support.
