    Position Purpose
    Leads the coordination of preservation, storage, and maintenance activities for Dartmouth Library's collections. Leverages expertise of staff to design and implement preservation policy and procedures in all digital and physical formats in alignment with best practices and institutional needs. Coordinates and oversees collection care and management projects across Dartmouth's libraries to optimize access and use of materials.

    Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Masters plus 6 or more years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
    Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
    ALA accredited Master's degree in library and/or information science or equivalent education and experience
    ● 6+ years library or archives experience
    ● Minimum 3 to 5 years of project management experience, which may include managing grants, time-limited activities, or special initiatives
    ● Knowledge and experience of applying best practices, policies, standards, and tools for preservation and collections maintenance across formats
    ● Demonstrated experience with assessment and statistics
    ● Experience with team leadership and working with diverse groups of staff
    ● Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively with staff, peers, senior management, faculty and students, and colleagues at partner institutions
    ● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and maintain strong communication of project progress
    ● Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative, and inclusive inter-departmental approach to problem solving and decision making
    Preferred Qualifications
    ● Demonstrated understanding of descriptive, technical and administrative metadata and file management practices
    ● Tolerance for complexity and ambiguity
    ● Creative thinking and problem solving
    ● Familiarity with Alma library management system
    ● Supervisory experience
    ● Project Management Institute certification or equivalent

    Key Accountabilities

    Description
    In alignment with Dartmouth Library Collection Development Policy and in collaboration with the Head of Collection Development & Analysis, the Assistant Archivist for Collections and other relevant stakeholders, coordinates preservation and collections management activities across libraries and formats including surveying current work and identifying areas of improvement and opportunities to innovate.
    Percentage Of Time 30%
    Description
    Applies project management skills and strategies to ensure the successful assessment, relocation, and curation of existing library materials, which includes consulting with library staff about space challenges and needs, assessing options and recommending solutions.
    Percentage Of Time 20%
    Description
    Sets policy and standards of preservation across digital and physical media in consultation with collection stewards. Partners with program and department heads to plan and coordinate the Library's preservation, conservation and collection management efforts. Facilitates the development and maintenance of policies that inform and guide digital preservation practice and the setting of priorities for the development and evolution of digital preservation workflows and infrastructure.(
    Percentage Of Time 25%
    Description
    Manages and works with supervisors in the conservation and collection management units to set work priorities that are consistent with department goals. Sets performance goals and measures achievement.
    Percentage Of Time 20%
    Description
    Participates in professional development activities, which may include research to further the field of librarianship; committee service at the library, campus, state, or national levels; publication; continuing education; and professional association activities. Identifies, evaluates and stays current with emerging trends, resources, practices and standards in digital and physical preservation, collection management, and project management.
