As a college professor, I found out about the learning needs of my students. This required me to become also a library media specialist to understand the lessons taught to my students when they were in elementary and high school. As a library media specialist, I used Excel to help me squeeze out the data about my students-- what subject areas were they interested in and how could their interests help them in other subject areas of the library.
Feel free to see how I had gotten my answers at Reaching Patrons and Students (https://sites.google.com/view/reachingpatronsandstudents/home)
How do you find out what your library customers really need for their research?
