The Arab Federation for Libraries and Information supports IFLA's Decision
to host WLIC 2024 in Dubai
The Arab Federation for Libraries and Information (AFLI) is the largest regional professional body representing the interests of library and information sectors and librarians in the Arab World.
AFLI is welcoming and supporting IFLA's decision to hold the conference in an Arab country and to select Dubai to host WLIC 2024. A great decision demonstrating how IFLA is keen and taking into consideration the diversity and inclusion in selecting the host cities all over the globe for holding WLIC.
The MENA region has always been deprived of hosting WLIC; it will be a remarkable and distinguished opportunity for Arab librarians, professionals, information workers....etc. to attend IFLA WLIC in Dubai.
DUBAI is an international city that forging a reputation as a leading cultural hub, keeping its heritage alive through the artwork, history displayed at several museums and exhibitions. There are so many libraries worth visiting in Dubai; one of the world's most spectacular new libraries is "Mohammed Bin Rashid Library". Dubai also hosts many international events like the World Economic Forum, EXPO. In the near future, it will host COP 28.
Finally, the wise decision of IFLA emphasizes what is mentioned in its mission and vision to create a strong and united global library field powering literate, informed and participatory societies.
