Core Connect Use Policy

On February 1, 2022, we made some changes to how Core uses its ALA Connect groups. We’ve implemented the following policy to promote discussion, make it easier to get to the Core information most relevant to our members, and cut down on the number of messages members receive each day.

  1. We created a new Core Library Jobs community on ALA Connect exclusively for job postings. Any ALA member can join this group to post a job ad to it. Any ALA member can join the community to get email notifications of the job postings. This is the only Core group in Connect where job ads will be allowed. Go here to join this community to publish or receive job openings.
  2. Non-ALA marketing for paid events, products, and services is no longer allowed. Participants are still welcome to post information about free, relevant events, products, or services according to the frequency limits noted below.
  3. To ensure that our members don’t feel they are only receiving promotions from our ALA Connect space, the same promotional message or similar message referring to the same event or offering can only be posted once in up to 3 Core groups within 1 week. The message can be posted again in subsequent weeks, but only once in up to 3 Core groups each week. This applies to all messages not from Core.
