About this Group

Purpose: Provides a forum for discussion of issues related to Linked Library Data and the role of library metadata in the Semantic web. Goals include: raising awareness of Semantic Web technologies, such as the Resource Description Framework (RDF) and the use of URIs as identifiers within bibliographic descriptions; promoting research on linked data challenges, such as domain modeling and vocabulary selection and design; and informing the ongoing development of existing metadata standards for Libraries, Archives and Cultural Heritage Institutions.

    Hello, all,

    Editing Wikidata--or, as I like to think of it, the authority file for Wikipedia--is a great way to jump into linked data. This free event is designed for first timers and experienced Wikimedians alike. All are welcome. See the link below for more information or reach out to me if you have questions!

    2022 MCLS/LDUG Wikidata Edit-a-thon: Indiana and Michigan Book Awards
    Online event: April 25-29, 2022

    Join the Linked Data Users Group of the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS) for a virtual exploration of Wikidata and the award-winning books from and about Indiana and Michigan.

    No previous Wikidata experience required, but you will need a Wikidata account to participate.

    This edit-a-thon will take place April 25-29. An opening event on the 25th will include an introduction to editing Wikidata. A closing event on the 29th will review and celebrate our first edit-a-thon! These events are free to all and will take place via Zoom; please register in advance.
