  • 1.  Facilities grants

Hello! I am doing some research into grants for library facilities and capital improvements. What are some of the major grant programs that exist for this in the US? Does anyone know of any good local corporate funding programs?

I'm interested also in grants that exist for furniture and facilities improvements, not just major remodeling or new facilities. I'm tapping the hive mind - any research helps!

    Thanks!

    Ms. Hansen:

There has been several million $ in Federal Funds per the Biden Infrastructure legislation. Most of the funds will be available from the various states. There may be some construction and/or furnishings money available.

If you do not have access to the Foundation Directory it canbe accessed online, for a fee. It is as complete a source for grants as there is. There is also a print copy.

Have you thought of crowdsourcing? You might raise some meaningful dollars that way.

And, you may be able to “sell” some of the spaces in a new facility. Work with your architect to determine costs, etc.

There are, in most buildings, half a dozen or more spaces that lend themselves to being named.
