Core Project Management Interest Group - Agenda for  Core Interest Group Week Meeting
March 7 at 1 PM CST/2 PM EST

    • Welcome and Introductions (5 minutes)
    • Presentations (40 minutes)
    • Transparent Library Project Management - Dennis Smith, West Virginia University Libraries

      • This presentation will discuss how WVU libraries began incorporating project management (PM) principles into our projects with a primary focus to increase transparency and collaboration. As we strived to be a learning organization, we combined PM sound practices with open discussion and increased involvement.

      • Dennis J. Smith, Associate Dean at West Virginia University, has worked a variety of position in Libraries over the past 15 years.  As his work became more project based in many areas, he began exploring Project Management.  In 2016, he completed a Masters in Project and Program Management and continues to use project management principles and practices in his daily work.

    • IDEA in Project Management - Kirsten Clark, University of Minnesota Libraries

      • While Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility can be elements of project management approaches, purposefully using PM techniques and processes provides opportunities for libraries and teams to ensure diversity of backgrounds and thoughts.  This presentation will discuss current practices and literature in this area.

      • Kirsten Clark, Director of Library Enterprise Systems, University of Minnesota Libraries.  She has worked on multiple projects throughout her nearly 25 years working in libraries in Minnesota, New Mexico, and Colorado.

    • Discussion on future topics for Interest Group (15 minutes)
