About this Group

Purpose: Advocates for preservation of cultural heritage materials among librarians and non-librarians by offering educational opportunities and supporting outreach efforts both inside and outside of institutional library contexts. To promote understanding of preservation principles and objectives, development of preservation skill sets, and cultivation of potential preservation funding sources.

  • 1.  Call for Proposals: Promoting Preservation Interest Group, ALA IG Week

    Core Promoting Preservation Interest Group invites speakers to submit a proposal for the upcoming ALA Interest Group Week, March 7-11, 2022. The PPIG session will be held virtually on Wednesday, March 9, at 11:00am Central time.

    Proposals should focus on preservation-related outreach, engagement, and education. Possible topics might include case studies or current projects, challenges and lessons learned, the impact of the pandemic, etc. Sessions should be 15-20 minutes, and could take the form of a presentation, panel discussion, or interactive (virtual) group activity.

    We encourage participation from anyone with an interest in the topic, regardless of experience level or training. Core and ALA membership is not required. Visit the Core website to learn more about the Promoting Preservation Interest Group.
