About this Group

Purpose: Provides a forum for discussion of issues related to Linked Library Data and the role of library metadata in the Semantic web. Goals include: raising awareness of Semantic Web technologies, such as the Resource Description Framework (RDF) and the use of URIs as identifiers within bibliographic descriptions; promoting research on linked data challenges, such as domain modeling and vocabulary selection and design; and informing the ongoing development of existing metadata standards for Libraries, Archives and Cultural Heritage Institutions.

    The subgroup working on information about linked data tools and resources has been evaluating the LOD-LAM Zotero Group, sponsored by the Digital Library Federation, as a shared vehicle for providing the kind of links and references to tools and resources that the Linked Library Data Interest Group asked for.

    We found using this method preferable to using the ALA Connect site, so we are working on transferring the resources from the prototype, and adding new resources there, and we invite you to contribute as well. Nicole Colovos and the group have prepared an introduction to Zotero groups and some tips.
