Purpose: Provides a forum for the exchange of ideas among those persons working with or interested in electronic resources; promotes the acquisition and access of electronic resources collections; strengthens communication and cooperation among persons working with electronic resources collections; addresses issues related to collection management and development of electronic resources, their funding, and selection; and contributes to the improvement of education and training of electronic resource archivists and librarians.

    The ALCTS Electronic Resources Interest Group (ERIG) is seeking volunteers or nominations for the position of Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect for 2015-2016. The position involves a two-year term; first year as Chair-Elect and the second as Chair of the group. The Chair for 2015-2016 will be Martin Knott from the University of Michigan, replacing outgoing Chair Jeannie Castro of the University of Houston.


    Responsibilities for the Chair-Elect/Chair include serving as leader of ERIG and representing ERIG before ALCTS officials; leading and working with past Chairs and members to coordinate the ERIG meetings which entail arranging the meeting space and equipment at ALA Annual and Midwinter conferences, arranging guest presentations and discussion topics at meetings of the Interest Group, and reporting to ALCTS about each meeting.

    The election will take place at the end of the Interest Group meeting at ALA Annual in San Francisco. The meeting will be held on Saturday, June 27, from 1:00-2:30 in Golden Gate C2 Meeting Room at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. Candidates are not required to be present at the meeting.
