Linked Data Pre-Conference at ALA Annual - and beyond

  • 1.  Linked Data Pre-Conference at ALA Annual - and beyond

The IG put on a successful preconference workshop at ALA Annual in Anaheim - congratulations! You can see the schedule and archived presentations and notes here - http://bit.ly/622LDpresched

We cancelled the business meeting scheduled for the Sunday morning of conference, so that many of us could attend the LoC BibFrame update, where the main speaker was Eric Miller of Zepheira (recently hired to work on MARC to linked data modelling efforts http://www.loc.gov/marc/transition/news/modeling-052212.html) - who had keynoted at our preconference on Friday.

Corey Harper (corey.harper@nyu.edu)& Karen Coyle (http://kcoyle.blogspot.com/) started the IG in a series of informal meetings, and served as the initial co-chairs - BIG thanks to them!  I (Debra Shapiro dsshapiro@wisc.edu) was appointed co-chair at the business meeting at annual 2012 in Dallas. Theo Gerontakos (tgis@u.washington.edu) has volunteered to serve as my partner co-chair, so I think we are set for leadership, at least for the current cycle.

We have some ideas for follow-on educational offerings on linked data, and will most likely plan a managed discussion for Midwinter -

    thanks, debra
