Hi all,
This book really reached something in me and made me think very specifically about what was necessary for my own success. There are so many books about leadership out there but, this was the first that resonated with me. I think it was how the authors approached middle management which is currently where I am and where I will remain should I be promoted to to associate director or even director. Working in a larger non-profit institution with a special library, I have to manage first for the institutional needs and second as library manager. Sometimes keeping those things straight is a challenge. When I feel particularly stressed I fall back on what I know - managing the library and my team. But it is when things become most stressed that I need to think bigger picture. What does the institution need and expect of me?
I listened to this book rather than reading it. I would listen to it on the way to work to prepare and focus for the day ahead. On the way home I listened to Harry Potter for some balance and try to leave work at home.
