ALCTS CaMMS Cataloging and Classification Research Interest Group Report on the 2015 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Chicago, IL.

The ALCTS Cataloging & Classification Research Interest Group met at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Chicago, IL on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Twenty-five people attended the following presentations:
Caroline Saccucci and Camilla Williams, the Library of Congress, presented "Cataloging in Publication: Moving Beyond the Print." This presentation discussed the elements of the CIP E-Books Program, including the application process, publisher participation, e-book metadata creation, and ingestion of the e-books into the Library's Content Transfer System to add to the Library's collections.
Laura Evans, Binghamton University Libraries, presented "Establishing Best Practices: Cataloging Unpublished Screenplays with RDA". This presentation discussed a challenge and inconsistency of applying RDA rules when cataloging unpublished screenplays at item level; appropriateness of “t” or type “a” to choose for the header; and implications of 264 field. The presenter shared with her guidelines (http://bit.ly/1uSHht0) for cataloging unpublished screenplays on Google Doc to compile best practices and achieve some consistency and continuity for cataloging this type of material.
Kathryn Lybarger, University of Kentucky Libraries, presented "MARC and Non-MARC Metadata for Digitized Government Documents". The presentation described an ongoing project of digitizing, preserving, and cataloging the Works Progress Administration (WPA) titles, and the crosswalk between MARC and Dublin Core, Dublin Core and METS.
Following the presentations, there was a period of Q&A. A large number of questions from the audience generated a lively discussion.
