ALCTS CaMMS Cataloging and Classification Research Interest Group Report on the 2015 ALA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA.

The ALCTS CaMMS Cataloging & Classification Research Interest Group met at the ALA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA, on Sunday, June 28, 2015. Forty-six people attended two presentations during the meeting on the topic of “RDA outside of its usual context”.
Wendy West, Head of Catalog Management Services, University at Albany, State University of New York, was installed as the incoming chair of CCRIG. Laura Evans, Metadata and Cataloging Librarian, Binghamton University, SUNY, was elected as incoming vice-chair.
Sai Deng, Metadata Librarian and Associate Librarian, University of Central Florida, presented "Accommodating RDA in CONTENTdm and Islandora, or, Accommodating RDA in Content and Digital Asset Management Systems," a look at RDA in relationship to non-MARC metadata and cataloging standards such as Dublin Core and MODS.
Amber Billey, Catalog/Metadata Librarian, University of Vermont and Emily Drabinski, Coordinator of Library Instruction, Long Island University, presented “Queering the LCNAF : on recording gender in name authority files,” which examined LC-PCC’s interpretation of RDA’s instructions on recording gender (RDA 9.7) through the lens of feminist and queer theory.
