    Preservation Week 2022

Preservation Week 2022 begins this Sunday, April 24. With the theme  "Preservation in the Face of Climate Change", Preservation Week has teamed up with Elizabeth Yeampierre, Executive Director of the Brooklyn-based Latinx community organization UPROSE, to highlight the effects of climate change on our shared cultural heritage materials. The papers, photographs, ephemera and other materials held by both institutions and individuals can be integral to telling the story of the human impact on the environment. During Preservation Week, we urge libraries, museums, institutions and communities to examine the effects on collections and their keepers, as well as resiliency strategies.

There are many ways you can celebrate Preservation Week in your library, institution, or community, and we invite you to explore the new Preservation Week website for resources and tips and ideas for planning Preservation Week events. The site also features free promotional materials, including video PSAs from Elizabeth Yeampierre and posters and banners. In addition, we will be hosting two free webinars next week-"How to Implement Sustainability in your Facility" on Tuesday, April 26 at 1 pm CT and "Digital Preservation's Impact on the Environment" on Thursday, April 28 at 1 pm CT.

For more information on Preservation Week, please contact Brooke Morris-Chott, Core Advocacy & EDI Program Officer, at bmorris@ala.org, and follow Preservation Week on Twitter and Instagram for the latest preservation-related news, resources, and tools.

Preservation Week is managed and maintained by Core and the Core Preservation Outreach Committee.
