Farewell library buckram, hello Summit? (25 mins)
Many of us heard from our library binders that due to availability, library buckram is being replaced due to availability. Some binderies are switching to Neehah's Summit cloth. What do we know about this cloth? How will it perform and will it meet our needs?
A discussion will be lead by Jack Neves, Binding Manager at UC San Diego. Jack is part of a Bindings Materials subcommittee for the University of California Libraries that is looking into C-cloth and F-grade buckram and possible replacements. Because time is tight, this is likely just the beginning of a larger conversation.
CORE transition (15 mins)
At our Midwinter meeting a few aspects of ALCTS PARS seems to be missing from CORE. Are these groups/initiatives things that people want to see continue? If so, who wants to or should spearhead that conversation with CORE? What current IG groups might take over their management?
- Preservation Awards (including Jan Merrill Oldham, Banks-Harris, Cunha-Swartzburg)
- Preservation In Action
- Preservation statistics
- Working groups (Standards and Practices, Publications, Outreach)-Where did these land?
- PARS Forum (has this been folded into CORE Forum?)
- Job postings no longer accepted on the Connect page-where will we post these so we all see and can share?
