    Greetings everyone,

I hope this message finds you all safe, healthy and hopeful for a better 2021!

As you know, our friendly ebook group has moved to the new Core division of ALA.  Core is kicking off the year with a week of Interest Group meetings to help people find their niche.  Please save the date for our Ebook Interest Group meeting and feel free to spread the word.  This upcoming meeting and this group are open to all:

    February 1, 2021
    1 - 2 pm ET

The Zoom link and additional information about this meeting will follow.

    All my best,
    Steve

Also, From our Group Leader, Steve Spohn, last fall:

    Greetings everyone,

This will be the final message on the ASGCLA Ebooks listserv due to the transition of this group to the new ALA Core Division.  While I am certainly sad to see the end of ASGCLA, this new division presents a fantastic opportunity for us to engage more broadly in the library community.  I look forward to connecting with you soon to resume our discussions and important work.  Welcome!

Hopefully, a few minutes prior, you have received a similar message from me via the Core Ebooks Interest Group in ALA Connect.  If  not, you may need to join the group or review your email notification settings.  (I had to resubscribe, too, so that may be the case for others.)  For now, the group is open to everyone both ALA and non-ALA members.  All that is required is a free account on ALA Connect.  You will find a link to the new Connect group below.

A few very important housekeeping items:

    2. ASGCLA Consortial Ebooks Interest Group Listserv
The listserv will be discontinued.  All communications will take place via ALA Connect.

    3. Interest Group Leadership
Core has more prescriptive guidance on interest group leadership including two-year term limits on "conveners" or "co-conveners."  This is a good thing!  However, it means that we should begin recruitment.  For now, if you are interested in a leadership position in the interest group, please let me know via email at sspohnjr@gmail.com.  In future years, we can set up a more formal process for this.

If you have any questions about Core and your new membership with Core, please contact Core Membership and Marketing Manager Chrishelle Thomas at cthomas@ala.org.  You can also learn more about how Core interest groups will work on the Core website: http://www.ala.org/core/member-center/interest-groups/about-interest-groups

Hope you are all staying safe, healthy and sane!  All my best,
    Steve
