Beginning 30 April 2025, OCLC will start adding Dewey uniform resource identifiers (URIs) to WorldCat MARC records as $1 links in 082 bibliographic fields.
Adding Dewey URIs to WorldCat further empowers discovery, saves users time and effort by allowing seamless navigation between the library catalog and Dewey linked data, and further expands linked data integration with WorldCat MARC records.
The $1 will link to the associated Dewey linked data page, which offers the current number, its caption, scope note, and upward hierarchy as far as the third digit. English WebDewey subscribers can log in on the Dewey linked data page to view additional data.
Example: OCLC Number: 1000049527
050 _4 HV9820.S532 $b S537 2010eb
082 04 365.6092 $2 22 $1 https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/ddc/E3VKRmgwQx9HfDty8QPQpk6TkT

These URIs will be included in WorldCat records you export using OCLC cataloging applications. You can receive enriched records automatically by enabling the WorldCat Updates feature "Receive updates when $1 is modified" in WorldShare Collection Manager. Retaining URIs in MARC records contributes to the linked data future for libraries.
