The following message is sent on behalf of American Library Association President Wanda Kay Brown
Dear Councilors,
I am looking forward to our work in the coming days and appreciate your service commitment knowing you are busy focusing on your communities, families, and loved ones. In anticipation of our work, I want to alert you to a decision by the Executive Board regarding our FY21 Budget. During the Annual Conference, ALA Council reviews and approves the Annual Estimates of Income or the budgetary ceiling. This guides the ALA Executive Director and staff in finalizing the future fiscal year budget expenses in anticipation of estimated revenues. During this very uncertain economic times, we have delayed this action until later this summer when we have more realistic forecasts for our revenues and expenses. Therefore, we will hold a special session of ALA Council in the early fall for a budget update and your consideration and approval of the FY21 Annual Estimates of Income. I will work with you on scheduling the meeting and provide more details during our meetings next week. Please stay healthy and I appreciate all that you do to support our libraries and library workers.
Sincerely,
Wanda Kay Brown
ALA President
