    Texas A&M University Libraries seeks two creative, energetic, and dynamic early career librarians to participate in a 3-year non-renewable term, post-master’s residency offering professional experience and the opportunity to contribute in an academic research library.  The Libraries is a member of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Diversity Alliance. Our residency program supports the Libraries’ commitment to build a diverse profession.  The residency is designed to meet both the professional goals and interests of the Residents as well as the service and operational priorities of the Libraries. In the first year, the Residents will work in multiple functional areas, to experience the different aspects of a large academic research library, including scholarly communications, instruction, and special collections.   In the second year, the Residents will plan and execute a major project in their chosen area of focus.  Residents will provide service and gain valuable experience in multiple facets of academic librarianship through this process.  During the third year, the Residents will continue in their chosen area of focus while searching for a full-time tenure-track position in an academic research library.     Required Qualifications:


    ·         Received a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited institution (or international equivalent)


    ·         Up to 5 Years’ post MLS experience as a - librarian in either an academic, special, public or school library


    ·         Excellent oral and written communication skills


    ·         Personal and professional goals that align with the residency program and structure


    ·         Ability to provide examples of interpersonal skills and working as a member of a team


    ·         Ability to provide examples of being flexible, taking initiative, and thinking innovatively


    ·         Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and culturally diverse environment


     


    Salary/Benefits/Rank: Faculty rank will be Lecturer and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience; minimum starting salary will be $48,000.  Excellent benefits include health plan and paid life insurance; several retirement plans including TIAA and Fidelity; paid holidays and vacation; no state or local income tax. Funding is available for professional travel and development activities.
