    Hope you're enjoying your fall semester as much as I'm enjoying mine! I'm writing to see if anyone knows when minutes from last year's midwinter and annual meetings might be made available. I am interested in reviewing them.

    As for the 2019 midwinter minutes, that’s a good question — I have never asked myself when they get posted after Council approves them, which happened at annual. There have been some absences and of course new personnel at ALA, so they could be backlogged. If I’m recalling the process correctly, the 2019 annual minutes aren’t minutes yet — we will approve draft minutes at 2020 midwinter.

    If you have a specific question about council action I am guessing ALA staff could help.

    The"FINAL" 2019 Midwinter Council minutes are being posted in the appropriate places today. Since, there were no corrections to the minutes, you may find them here: http://www.ala.org/aboutala/midwinter-and-annual-2019. The 2019 Annual Conference minutes have yet to be approved, and that will not happen until 2020 Midwinter Council meeting.

    Good morning Emily,

     

    The Mid-Winter minutes were part of our packet of documents which we received before the Annual Conference and were approved at Council Session 1.  I have a copy of those on my laptop here. These were what was voted on at that meeting, I don't have any notes that there were edits.   I don't know why they aren't linked on the page yet.

     

    The minutes from Annual probably won't be linked until after the Mid-Winter Conference, I would guess.  Most of the non-profits I am involved with do not post minutes publicly until after they have been approved by the board at the following meeting.   So, unfortunately, I don't know if they would be available for inspection.

    Thanks so much for this explanation/reminder, Rob! I was clearly not making the connections, and now feel about bashful about that. I'll look forward to getting a better grasp on how things work here in the last year of my term, and to seeing those draft minutes when I see all of you in Philadelphia.
