    Greetings,

Due to the recent "Zero Tolerance" policy put forth by the Trump administration, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of children who are separated from their parents at the US-Mexico border.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection testified to separating more than 600 families in a two week period from May 6-May 19.
Many people have questions about what is happening and have asked what can be done to help.

There are several organizations which can provide detailed information, and the public may direct any comments to several government offices. Also, several legislative bills have been introduced and the public may contact local representatives.

    Please see below for links.

I created a research guide last year on immigration and citizenship. If it's all right with you, I will add a new page to the guide and include these organizations and statutes.

Thank you so much for including these. I feel that as librarians part of our mission is to disseminate reliable, reputable, and helpful information to the public and this is a perfect example of how we can do that.

    Hi AnnMarie:

Here's the URL for my research guide:

LibGuides: Immigration and Citizenship Resources: Introduction to the Immigration Process
Overview of immigration and citizenship resources, including websites and organizations at the local and national level.

I added pages including most of Madeline's links. I am open to any suggestions, comments, and feedback. Thanks for making this information available. It is VERY relevant today.
