    EDUCATION SERVICES LIBRARIAN: This position will develop and deliver library services to the students and faculty in the Darden College of Education. The Education Librarian will also gather information about library needs, assist with collection development, alert the faculty to library services and policies,  provide communication between faculty and the Libraries, provide instruction and research assistance for students and faculty and in general serve as the liaison person for the Darden College of Education departments, programs and research centers.  This position will also be responsible for participating in library planning and development and contributing to the library profession.


     


    REQUIREMENTS:



    • ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS degree or international equivalent

    • Experience  in teaching, training and/or presentation

    • Experience in identifying and meeting research needs of library users

    • Academic background or work experience in the field of education

    • Analytical skills including independent problem solving and critical thinking

    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a demanding and rapidly changing service-oriented environment

    • Excellent  interpersonal, organizational, communication and project and time management skills

    • Ability to cultivate relationships with faculty in assigned disciplines

    • Knowledge of the information and research needs of assigned disciplines and an understanding of current  trends and issues in scholarly publishing

    • Ability to develop access to appropriate information resources, including building local collections, for the Darden College of Education

    • Initiative


     


    PREFERRED:



    • Experience or coursework in education

    • Experience developing and managing education-related collections in all formats

    • Experience with issues and technical challenges related to the life cycle of research and data

    • Successful track record of collaboration around scholarly issues

    • Experience in an academic or research library                    


     


    SALARY AND BENEFITS: Beginning minimum salary is $52,000.Commensurate with experience. Great benefits.
