    POSITION DESCRIPTION:


     


    Position is responsible for developing and teaching information literacy sessions, managing aspects of collection development, maintaining portions of websites, and overseeing aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Library.


     


    The Research Librarian works primarily during the academic school day as well as two evenings per week and one weekend per month while school is in session.  The position also works one month over the summer, as scheduled by the Director.


     


    The position requires a person who has experience teaching adolescents and enjoys working with and relates well to both adults and students, is collaborative, and communicates well.  Research Librarian needs to be organized as well as possess excellent written and oral communication, technology, and research skills.


     REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



    •   MLS or equivalent degree


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


     



    • Prior experience in library or school settings;

    • Strong competence with library technology;

    • Extensive expertise in research and technology applications, including use of a MacBook Pro and iPad for teaching purposes with specific knowledge of Keynote and Pages;

    • Familiarity with an academic or boarding school setting.

    • Environment: Work is performed mostly in an indoor/office environment where the noise level is quiet.

    • Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; may occasionally lift up 20 lbs.; to travel in all modes of transportation; sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate office machinery, specifically a computer and keyboard.

    • Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction to be able to see close, distance, and to focus.

    • Auditory: Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Must be able to talk and hear by telephone and in person.
