    Job Title: Technical Services & Government Documents Librarian for Indiana University Kokomo

    The Indiana University Kokomo Library invites applications for the position of Technical Services & Government Documents Librarian. The IU Kokomo Library seeks an energetic, collaborative and innovative librarian to provide strategic leadership for the Library’s technical services functions and government documents collection. This tenure-track position is responsible for planning, managing, supervising and evaluating the Library’s technical services functions; including budgeting, acquisitions, cataloging, and collection maintenance. Departmental liaison activities include teaching, learning and research support for assigned areas.     • MLS/MIS/MLIS or equivalent degree from an ALA accredited institution

    • Demonstrated experience in acquisitions and cataloging

    • Working knowledge of Resource Description and Access (RDA), the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR2), Library of Congress Subject Headings, Library of Congress Classification System, MARC 21 format for Bibliographic Data, MARC 21 format for Authority Data, and the CONSER (Cooperative Serials Program) editing guide, and OCLC Connexion client software

    • Familiarity with integrated library system functions for technical services, preferably those functions for SirsiDynix Symphony WorkFlows

    • Demonstrated ability to plan and evaluate library collections and services

    • Commitment to inclusion with an understanding of the library needs of a diverse community

    • Demonstrated ability to work productively, independently and collaboratively

    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing

    • Collegial attitude and enthusiasm for innovation

    • Commitment to professional development and service in order to meet the requirements for tenure and promotion

    • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work


    • Minimum two years post-MLS library technical services work experience with increasing job responsibilities

    • Minimum one year working with a federal and/or state government document depository

    • Excellent presentation and instruction skills and experience teaching information literacy competencies

    • Supervisory experience

    • Educational background in business, education or social sciences
