    Dear All,
    I hope you are well.
We have been asked to increase our eBook collection in the library because no hardcopy will be loaned out due to Covid. We have purchased the entire collection of PM eReaders but these are leveled readers that teachers assign and is not something that the library manages. Our students also have access to
    UniteforLiteracy.com
This site not only has English but also Arabic - and over 10 other languages. We're keen to access Arabic eBooks too.

We are looking at Follett's eBooks. However I was told that all ebooks have a 'shelf life' of 1 or 2 years. Lightbox which Follett also do - we can keep permanently. We want to be cautious with our budget and I would prefer at this point to spend on a permanent eBook collection.

Would you know of other providers that sell eBooks that we can add to our platform and not lose?

Sorry for my ignorance. And many thanks for your help.

I'm in the same boat -- looking for more ebook options due to COVID.  In looking at Follett, I see that some titles expire after a specific amount of time (1 year or 2 years) or after a specific number of checkouts (after 24 checkouts, it disappears),  Others, however, say nothing about expiration.  I will follow this discussion to see what others have to say.  I'll also be contacting my Follett rep to see what he recommends. Like you, I want to stretch our budget as far as I can.

You might also check out OverDrive's "Public Library Connect" program. If your local public library already has an OverDrive collection, this program lets you share it with your students via the OverDrive Sora app. Your school does need to have an established relationship with OverDrive, but this can be accomplished, at least initially, via a free "Sora Starter" program. And of course you'd have to get the public library on board as well.

    Hello Jennifer,
I heard from Eugenie who informed me that there are permanent eBook available. At first my rep said there wasn't any permanent eBooks but then I messaged her with Eugenie's remarks (without mentioning any names) and saying that librarians in the USA are mentioning Follett does have permanent eBooks - she sent me a list of permanent eBook.

This list was based on my original order of hardcopies -  she converted this list to permanent eBooks taking out the 1 and 2 year short term ones.

    Perhaps I confused my rep.

Anyway please know that there is no need to take the short term rentals/ subscriptions if you are looking to keep your books permanently.

    Have a great day,

    Fawzia

    Hi there,
I also manage a  high school library with a diverse student body.  I have had success with Mackin Inc. which offer eBooks and Audiobooks.  Some have a shelf life, other are permanent collection offers.  Their URL is www.mackin.com/  There is a customer service link on their web site.  Hope that helps.

If you are looking at elementary, Capstone Publishing has ebooks called Capstone Interactive. They will read to the students if they want. The voice is real to life and they are unlimited simultaneous users
